Flahavan set to sign for Crystal Palace

Keeper Daryl Flahavan is set to sign for Crystal Palace after spending an eight years with Southend.

He had a medical at Selhurst Park on Tuesday .

Palace assistant boss Mick Jones said that the club were expecting Flahavan to complete the move in the next couple of days.

He will provide cover to Palace stopper Julian Speroni, and will fight to stake his own claim for the right to wear the No. 1 jersey.

'Flahavan is having a medical with us and that deal should go through subject to that medical,' Jones told the Croydon Advertiser.

'He is a more than adequate competitor for Julian Speroni.

'He is a good goalkeeper and there was a lot of interest in him, but we are an attractive proposition at the moment.'

Some shrewd captures from the great one by the looks of things this season.

I am surprised Southend are letting him go. He seemed a fans favourite at Roots hall.
