Palace win again in 2tone City

Ben Watson's 5th goal of the season gave Palace all three points as they beat Coventry City 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena.

The midfielder's free-kick in the second half added to Clint Hill's close range effort in the ninth minute to earn Palace a deserved win, although Neil Warnock's men could have added to their lead when Shaun Derry took a quick free-kick and when Sean Scannell fired in a shot, Coventry skipper Scott Dann was on hand to block the goal bound effort.

There were a few scares as Ex Palace striker Clinton Morrison had a goal ruled out for offside while defender Matt Lawrence had to clear off line .

'That's as good as we have played since I have been at the club - even last season when we relied on individual goals because we didn't play football like that,' Warnock said.

'We kept possession, we looked a threat and I couldn't fault any department. I thought we were super.

'We're disappointed where we are in the table because it is only down to us. It's nobody else's fault. We should be way higher than this. The lads know how they got to perform and we know we can go anywhere and win if we perform like that.

'I have never seen Ben Watson play or train better like he has in the last two or three weeks. He is a Ray Wilkins type of player. We want him to make things happen and he's looking to get goals which is another string to his bow.'

Coventry manager Chris Coleman added: 'As good as we were on Monday at Birmingham, we have gone to the other end of the scale. If we had got anything out of that game it would have been embarrassing.

'We need to have a bunch of players who are strong enough to put back-to-back wins together otherwise we are always going to be in the bottom half. We're going to try and bring in some new faces at Christmas time which more.'

The Ricoh Arena remains a happy hunting ground for the Eagles. Palace have won on all four of their visits since the Sky Blues swapped Highfield Road for the 32,000 all-seater stadium in August 2005 and have scored 12 goals along the way, Gaunty will be a happy bunny on Monday LoL.....
