Palace lose Webber to Boro???

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has admitted he expects striker Danny Webber to join Middlesbrough.

Webber is a free agent after seeing his contract at Sheffield United come to an end and Warnock had hoped to bring the 27-year-old to Selhurst Park.

However, the Palace boss now expects Webber to join Boro after the north-east club made their interest in the player known.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser, Warnock said: 'It looks as if Danny will be going to Middlesbrough - it's difficult for us to compete with their money.'

Warnock may now step up his interest in Serbian trialist Goran Maric who scored in Palace's 4-0 friendly win over Boreham Wood on Thursday
