CPST Draw Up Plans For New Training Ground

CPST Draw Up Plans For New Training Ground

As spoken about by Steve Parish in his interview with Crystal Palace FC, the Supporters' Trust are investigating 3 sites that could house a new training facility.

Members of the Trust voted unanimously to approve the plan to purchase a training ground in a meeting held after the Reading match. If the plan came off it would see the clubs' owners pay rent to the CPST who would remain as owners of the training facility.

Three venues have been short listed for the potential £4 million state of the art facility, with Ashburton Playing Fields in Elmers End, the sports ground off Turle Road in Norbury and Purley Way Playing Fields topping the list.

The Trust has proposed that the cost of the project be raised by loan notes or community shares with fans investing a minimum of £500, with hopefully wealthier Eagles making larger donations.

Trust spokeswomen Lesley Palmer said of the plan:

'The current training ground in Beckenham is unsatisfactory. It has high rent and the facilities are old and tired.

'Fans will get a return on their investment and will also help the club. It's a genuine asset and they'll get something back for their money.'
