No Points Total In Mind Says Freedman

Dougie Freedman has told fans that he hasn't got a set number of points in mind for the club to avoid relegation, rather we'll go for every point we can.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC the gaffer said:

'I don't have a points total in mind, I try and approach every week by trying to get the players better - it's my job to make them better players and therefore a better team.'

Freedman compares it to how he approached games when he was a playing in saying:

'When I played I just wanted to turn up knowing I'd prepared as best as possible, and I try and do that for the lads. Prepare them as best I can, get a good shape, work on it and get the rewards.'

He makes it sound so simple doesn't he, but he does add then the rest of the job is down to the players as he can only help prepare them, it's the players who have to stick to the plan and perform on the pitch, like they did last night for example.

I'm pretty sure Dougie does have a set number of points in mind that he believes would see us avoid relegation, but I completely agree that there's little point in announcing that to players or the press.

It would put pressure on the lads until we reached that total, and then conversely he could see the lads relax too much once it was reached.

Keep them guessing, and keep them working and instead of avoiding relegation by the bare minimum points necessary, go all out to lift us as high up the table as we can go instead.
