Barrett Planning Summer Talks

Adam Barrett will sit down with Dougie Freedman in the summer to sort out his future.

Barrett will remain on loan with Leyton Orient until April 12, and since joining from Southend last summer he's only made 5 starts for the club and obviously being so far down the pecking order, he wants to know how the land lies.

Speaking to South London Today Barrett explained that he had no problems with club staff and nor did he think he should be a guaranteed first choice in the team, but with the focus being on ensuring we stay up, he'll have a chat with the boss and if Dougie says he's still in his plans then he'll knuckle down and work to get his shot.

'Hopefully Palace can stay up and then I'm going to sit down with Dougie and see what ideas he has got. If he turns round and says that I'm not going anywhere then I'll get my head down and work as hard as I can for him.'

Barrett adds that one thing he can be assured of is that Freedman will be honest and upfront with him, and in his mind that's the perfect way to be in discussions about a players future and neither the club nor the player need to be messed around. Honesty is the best policy, and that's exactly what you get from the gaffer.
