'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dougie's Decree: A Great Effort

Dougie Freedman was pleased as punch with the spirit and the desire of the team this weekend, as he saw us pick up a well deserved 3 points against Barnsley.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the 2-1 victory, Freedman was delighted to see us open a 7 point gap in our bid to avoid relegation - and even though Sheff U and Preston have a game in hand, we are looking comfortable and our fate is definitely in our own hands.

'A good win and a good performance, there were a lot of good all round performances.'

There were a couple of moments in the match that would've seen lesser managers berate the referee, but Dougie says of the handball incident it would've been difficult for the officials to see it so he has no complaints there, and he thinks the Ref called the other penalty correctly anyway so we didn't lose out because of the error which is all he cares about.

Freedman also had a few words of praise for debut boy Kemy Agustien, but seemed reticent to pick people out given it was a good all round performance.

'Kemy's done really well today, it was a good debut. There were good individual performances but they came from a good structure. Individuals put in performances yes, but the team as a whole did very well to bounce back.'

Ambrose said earlier in the week the team were looking to secure our future in the next four matches so we could more enjoy the final few games of the season - for that target yesterday was the perfect start.
