'If It's Football, It's Vital'

An Interview With A Leeds Fan

A busy Easter schedule sees us entertain Leeds at Selhurst on Easter Monday, so we had a little chat with Vital Leeds.

With thanks to Dazza71.

Is the season going as you expected and what has been the highlight and lowlight so far?

I was always confident of a top half finish whilst many fans would have been happy with a season of consolidation.

The lowlight of the season would have to be a five week spell during September and October when we conceded five at Barnsley and four and six at home against Cardiff and Preston respectively.

Any transfer window deals that we might not be aware of, but should look out for as at a quick glance you were pretty active in the window - especially with loans from Prem clubs?

Eric Lichaj joined Leeds on loan from Aston Villa a few months ago and is doing really well at right back, watch out for him joining in with the attack as well as his long throws.

Are you expecting 3 points again and are you confident of returning to the Top Flight via the play offs?

I am answering these before the Reading game on Friday night but having been unfortunate enough to witness our performances recently I am not confident of either a win at Selhurst Park or reaching the play offs.

Where do you see your current weaknesses? Any clues will be greatly welcomed :-)

Our goals against record says it all.

Nearly seventy goals conceded by a side challenging for promotion. We lack bite in the middle of the park that only sees our defence get put under constant pressure and we have no leader in defence to organise the side. Thankfully we know how to score at the other end.

Who will be your key dangerman?

Max Gradel has been on fire this season and as notched seventeen goals from the left wing.

Do you believe Palace will survive?

Once again I am writing this before your trip to Doncaster on Friday. Win that game and you will stay up, lose and I fear for you.

What are your thoughts on Dougie Freedman?

I like Freedman; he did a fantastic job when on loan at Leeds towards the end of the 2007/08 season. I wish him all the best at Palace but not on Monday of course.

If you could take one of our players, who would it be and why?

We need a strong defender so would like Patrick McCarthy although I wouldn`t mind Darren Ambrose or Neil Danns.

Who do you see as our main threat?

Danns scored against us at Elland Road and could be a danger against our wobbly defence.

Where would you say our current weaknesses are in terms of how you will approach the match?

If you do lose at Doncaster you will be a side lacking any confidence so it will be important that we come straight at you to increase the tension inside Selhurst Park.

Finally, a prediction please...

If we are to make the play offs it`s a game we cannot afford to drop points in, 2-1 Leeds but I`m not confident.

After Friday's games its a must win for both of us, should be a good game with both sides going for it.
