Dougie's Decree: Pride And Ability

After seeing the Eagles put Leeds to the sword yesterday, Freedman was delighted with the effort the team put in and has called on them to end the season on a high.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC after the game, Freedman was pleased to see us start so brightly and then praised our resolute defensive display.

'It was a good start and then we defended well. It was a great defensive display, there's that saying about defending for your life, get a video of today.'

Freedman knows that although it's highly unlikely we will now go down, mathematically we aren't safe and he wants us to end the season on a high, pick up maximum points if we can and open up a real gap as opposed to surviving by a few odd points. Something to boost confidence going into next season.

On answering the question, are we safe yet, he said.

'Not quite yet, but the biggest thing today was the spirit and commitment. I want to finish as high as possible - we hope for two wins and then move on to next season.'

There may only be 3 places as a tangible improvement since Freedman took over, but his remit was to secure safety for us and it looks like that has now been achieved. Going to be an interesting summer, and it'll be interesting to see what Dougie can do with a whole season.

If we can take our home form and improve our away record it could turn into a very pleasing season for the Eagles...but we'd all take mid table next year as a sign of improvement wouldn't we...I would.
