Danns: Take It Or Leave It

Dougie Freedman has explained that finances rule the roost as he makes plans for next season, and Neil Danns has to decide if the contract offered is good enough...because the club won't be offering more.

Speaking to the News Shopper Freedman explained the unfortunate reality of the financial aspects of the club and admitted he will be operating under a strict wage cap and for the future of the club he's not prepared to break it for any player - despite how much he would want them to stay or join.

'I've told Danns he's got a contract in front of him and it's up to him to take it or leave it. If he doesn't, then unfortunately he'll have to move on, if he does, then brilliant.'

Freedman adds that this has been explained to players looking to renew or join the club, but regardless of who the player is he can't justify the risk of putting the club back into administration by stretching too far and it not working out.

It's a thoroughly understandable position and hopefully Danns, like other players, will realise that and we can look to improve the quality of the squad next season instead of replacing key players for us.
