Clyne Talks Begin Again

Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman will be sitting down with Nathaniel Clyne and his agent in the hope of ensuring his future remains at Selhurst.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser Parish said that keeping Clyne at the club was very important for the gaffer's plans - although he realises that if a deal can't be agreed then the club will need to look at securing the very best price possible.

'He's got a year to run and we are very, very keen to keep the player at the club. We will see how things progress over the summer.'

Parish adds that Clyne is at the right age where even if he ran his contract down the club would still receive a fee, but he appreciates from the players' point of view that having been involved in two relegation battles in consecutive years that he obviously has abitions to be playing at the right end of the table, and the task for Palace is to show that challenging for promotion is our plan.

'That's a good ambition for any youngster and it's now down to us to persuade him that he can do that here, but we have to remember that if the manager thinks he can use the sale to build a better team then that's what he has to do.'

Hopefully Clyne will sign a new contract and we can look to build next season as opposed to replacing key players for us, but the original offer has been on the table since the end of last year so fingers crossed it's more a matter of him not wanting to sign it in case we dropped another division, but now we are safe and working towards next season, he'll see Selhurst is the place to be.
