Dougie's Decree: Mission Accomplished

Dougie's Decree: Mission Accomplished

Speaking after our 3-0 loss to Forest, you can forgive Dougie for not really caring about the result, given his main aim for the season has been reached.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC Freedman talked about his pride at reaching the aim for the season, which was purely to keep us in the division for next season, and whilst the Forest game was a disappointing final note, he accepts it was fair given how we played.

'Many so called experts said we were down and told me I must be crazy to take the job. It was our mission to stay in this division and we've done it, so if you assess it from that point of view it's been hugely successful.'

Speaking more specifically about the Forest game, he added.

'It's not the best way to finish, it was a fair result and I'm disappointed with the game but I thought we stayed at it, and showed commitment and kept our pride in tact to the final whistle.'

So with one season over, Dougie can now prepare for the next with the hope of seeing a marked improvement in our league placing, but Dougie again confirmed that his vision is based on making the most of our youth setup.

'I've got lots of good young players, my early signs are that we will go that way. A lot of work will be done on the training ground.'

Onwards and upwards hopefully.

Well done again Dougie.
