No Truth To Derry Rumours

Dougie Freedman has spoken out on cpfc.co.uk dismissing links to QPR's Shaun Derry, and also assuring fans that work is ongoing behind the scenes.

'I can't comment on every individual but these days you get a young guy sitting in his bedroom who dreams up Shaun Derry is coming back and Sky Sports pick it up and the manager gets asked.'

Quite a succinct way of explaining how 95% of the speculation gets started I would imagine.

As Derry was named, Freedman adds about the speculation.

'The answer with Shaun is no, there's no truth in me trying to sign him right now and I don't want to be answering questions every two minutes when someone makes up a name.'

Freedman is a little less terse when commenting on fan expectations, as he's well aware that fans want to see new players coming in to push us on.

'I know Palace fans will expect me to bring in some signings, but I think they'll also expect me to bring in players that will take the club forward. I've got a list of players that I would like to get and I will go through that list, I only want players that are hungry to play for the club. I'm taking my time, there's no need to rush.'
