Dougie's Decree: We Stood Up To Be Counted

Dougie Freedman has praised the team for their victory in the Carling Cup against Crawley, and said they stood up to be counted in a difficult game.

Speaking to Newshopper following the game Freedman praised the team and Zaha especially - although in the latter case it's clear he wants the player to remain grounded and keep working hard on the training pitch.

'It was a very difficult match against a local rival who were really looking for the victory in the way they played. They were a credit to their club but my lads stood up to be counted. There are teenagers in the team, and Zaha stuck two in for the teenagers, so it was a good result.'

On the issue of Zaha, Dougie said there was plenty of work left to do as Wilfried is not yet a natural in front of goal.

'Wilfried's not really a goal scorer yet, he's not got the natural instincts but he's a fantastic provider of goals. It's something we've been working on but they will come.'
