'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dougie's Decree: Fantastic Performance

Dougie Freedman was absolutely delighted to see a young Palace side secure victory over Premiership Wigan last night.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC the gaffer said.

'I'm very pleased with the performance of the lads, it was a mixed side tonight with a few youngsters playing again against a Premier League side of the quality of Wigan. It was very pleasing because the players put a lot of work into it and got the rewards in the end.'

Freedman also paid special tribute to Glenn Murray and Jonny Williams.

'Glenn Murray - what a performance. Me being a centre forward I understand what is needed and I couldn't fault Glenn tonight. He is playing against Premier League opposition on his own and he had the two centre halves wrapped up.'

Adding about Williams.

'Jon Williams was good, I'm not at all surprised by his progression - he's a very good prospect for us.'
