'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dougie's Decree: We Lacked A Bit Of Nous

Nous, there's a word you don't here often. Either way, Dougie believes it's something we lacked against Middlesbrough last weekend.

It's also something he'll be looking for us to have more of when we face off against Middlesbrough again tomorrow in the Carling Cup.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC after the disappointing 1-0 loss, Freedman remained upbeat and positive, believing their was plenty to take from the way we played.

'It was a very close game, I'm proud that we played our part. The difference was that when they went down to ten men, they showed a bit more nous keeping us out.'

Freedman goes on to add that he believes that we'd have got something from the game if it had remained 11 v 11, but their experience showed, as did our youthfulness.

However, that's something that the lads will learn and ultimately be better for it in time.

With all that said, Dougie really didn't think there was much in it, and believes it would've been a deserved draw had we taken a point.

'They're a fantastic team with great experience, and we came very close to matching that. Our youthfulness and impatience to get a goal was the different, apart from that there wasn't a lot in it.'

Freedman saved his final comments on the match for Wilfried Zaha.

'He's a fantastic young player who is getting better. With the youngsters it's difficult to play them week in, week out, for Wilfried 3 games a week is too much for him right now but he was fantastic for that last 20 minutes'

And for tomorrow's revenge opportunity, he added.

'I think Tuesday will be another close match, I expect it to be another similar game, tactically they are very good Middlesbrough, so I need to be spot on.'
