Dougie's Decree: Strikers Take The Praise

Dougie Freedman was quick to highlight the team element in our revenge victory over Middlesbrough last night, but the strikers certainly take the individual praise.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the victory Dougie said of the 8 changes he made.

'We spoke about being a team tonight and I felt we were, we worked as individuals for the team. These days it's a squad game and players understand that. Calvin is an example of someone who knows he has to be patient, work hard in training and produce when he's called upon and he did that. We have seen players gets their chance and take it in the right way.'

Also singled out for individual praise was Wilfried Zaha.

'Wilfried was fantastic tonight, he's getting better every time we see him, but he knows that's through the hard work he is putting into training and Calvin doesn't score many goals because he doesn't get many chances to play, when he does he puts in the effort and he scored a great goal.'

Of equal joy for the team performance, was the players who returned to action and more than put in a shift.

'It was pleasing to see Anthony Gardner play his first game of the season and Alex Marrow, Stuart O'Keefe and Jonny Williams all came in and played their part in a good team effort. We have plenty of positives to take into the next game.'
