'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Freedman Proud Of Williams' Progress

Dougie Freedman has said 17 year old Jon Williams' call up to the full Welsh squad has left the whole club proud of his progression this season and achievement.

Speaking to the Croydon Guardian Freedman admitted he was a bit surprised to see Gary Speed move so quickly for the player given his limited minutes on the pitch, but he was proud and delighted nontheless.

'It's fantastic for him and we are very proud. It was a surprise to us all as he is still a young player and he has only played a couple of times for us, but he has been around the Welsh system and in the U21s for some years and they know of him and, like us, are not afraid to pick him.'

Dougie adds that the experience alone will be a huge boost for the player and will be a great experience for him, and no doubt he'll also be telling Jonny that regular call ups will be forthcoming if he keeps his head down and works hard. This should be a taste of things to come for the player.
