'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Freedman Advises Youngsters To Stay

Dougie Freedman has said that our crop of talented youngsters will be far better served by staying at the club rather than taking an early move to the Premiership.

Pointing to the likes of Victor Moses and Wayne Routledge as examples of players who moved on too quick and lost a lot of game time by doing so, Freedman told the South London Press that he believed the likes of Wilfried Zaha would develop better, by remaining at the club and having regular first team action.

'We will probably receive some phone calls or bids and then it comes down to how I and the club deal with it. I'd like to think that right now it is too soon for any of our young boys to go, because staying here and playing regularly is the best thing for their careers. In the past our good youngsters have gone too soon and it's been detrimental to them.'
