'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Freedman - A Wonderful Night

Dougie Freedman is obviously over the moon tonight, but most importantly - and rightly - he thinks we deserved the victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports after our brilliant 2-1 victory over Manchester United tonight, Freedman said he was delighted with how we played and he believes we more than deserved to go through to the Semis.

'It was a wonderful night considering the position we have been in in recent years. We really enjoyed our night. We got the win, which I thought we deserved, we played some good football and showed desire to see out the game. When you come to Old Trafford you have to give everything and the lads did that.'

Contrary to most fans I assume, Freedman said, when asked if Cardiff were the most desirable opponents given the other semi final is between Manchester City and Liverpool.

'Not at all, if you have watched Cardiff it's going to be a very difficult tie and that has probably made it harder for us.'

Fair enough we are out for revenge from the last league encounter, and he's no doubt also being respectful as well as accurate given Cardiff will know us - our style of play and our strengths and weaknesses. That's not something the other two semi finalists we have, but I'd still rather face Cardiff myself!
