Ambrose Hoping Utd Goal Can Kickstart His Season

Darren Ambrose has said that he's hoping his substitute performance against Manchester United can help kickstart his stuttering season.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser the midfielder admitted he has suffered a dip in form and confidence so far this campaign and he's struggled to get himself into gear for the first team, but he hopes the boost he had with both his performance and the goal in the Carling Cup quarters will be the boost he needed to get back on top form.

'I've been out of the side for a few games now and of course it has been frustrating for me personally but I'm a professional and you have to take the highs with the lows. The last few weeks have been a bit of a downer for me but I got my chance on Wednesday.'

Compared to his other appearances this season Ambrose says everything went right for him when he came on and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

'I thought to myself that I had to go out there and take my chance and it was enjoyable. It was one of those nights where everything went for me. If I hadn't have had a go I wouldn't have scored and it was one of the best goals I have ever scored. It was one of those magic moments.'

Darren adds that the occasion was made even more special by the fans being in full voice.

'It was an incredible night. You would never have known that we were away at the champions of England because all we could hear was our fans.'

Hopefully under Dougie night's like that will become the norm for the club as we move forward.
