Dougie's Decree: Not Blaming Fixture List

Dougie Freedman is refusing to blame the hectic fixture list for our loss against Barnsley last night, but he knows it has played a part in tiredness in the squad.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC Dougie refused to outright blame the fixture list for the loss but he knows the games are catching up with us now and he feels the squad isn't as fresh as it should be because of that.

'You don't make excuses because we're professionals but it has caught up on us injury wise, but it's not an excuse. The second half performance was disappointing, but there are reasons for that. Barnsley are a good team. We're tired and couldn't find that spark up front, they kept going and punished us.'

Whilst Dougie found the second half disappointing he was pleased with our response in the first half after going behind so early on in the game.

'It was not an ideal start. It just shows how crucial the warm up is. I thought after that we settled down and we deserved to go in one each, so I was pleased with the response.'

We could certainly do with a bit of a break to recharge batteries, but there is a gap in the fixtures shortly and I'm sure the squad will make the most of it.
