Dougie Freedman has again insisted that Nathaniel Clyne will develop into a better player if he signs a new deal at Palace.
With Manchester United the latest to be linked to the right back, Freedman still has hopes that Clyne will stay and sign a new deal even though he knows it's difficult with the team's being bandied around.
Speaking to the Croydon Guardian Dougie dismissed the United link by suggesting it was just a case of an agent doing his job to engineer a move, and restated that Clyne would be better served by staying at the club rather than seeking a big money move elsewhere.
'Nathaniel has been linked with lots of clubs because that is what agents do best. If you move too early your career can stall. I know he should stay and I think deep down Nathaniel knows he should, but when certain representatives decide it's best for a 19 year old to move away it is difficult.'
Freedman adds that Clyne is still learning his game and is clearly improving, so if he did stay he would improve further.
