'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Freedman Delighted With Efforts

Dougie Freedman was delighted with the effort of the lads in last night's Carling Cup semi final - he wasn't the only one!

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC after the dramatic penalty shoot out loss, the boss said.

'It was a fantastic physical effort. I felt we were asked of a lot of questions which we answered. We dug in and I felt we grew into the game. The pride we've shown and the desire to work hard for each other and the commitment to each other was second to none and I'm really proud of that.'

Dougie says he is disappointed obviously, but he feels we can take plenty of positives from the cup run if we don't dwell on last night's result.

'I think we won a lot of hearts tonight, it was a great cup tie and overall it was a very well played game. It just wasn't to be.'

We dealt very well with Cardiff given the early own goal and then the harsh sending off of Paddy, but they were worthy winners sadly, I think we were just too out of puff by the time the shootout came round.

No complaints, and I can't imagine many will criticise following the game. We should be proud of what we achieved even if we couldn't make the final hurdle.
