Dougie's Decree: Promotion Push A Step Too Far

Following our draw against Doncaster Rovers, Dougie Freedman has repeated his earlier comment that a promotion push this season was a step too far for the club.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the game, Freedman said he believed the point was fair when everything was considered.

'I think it was a fair result under the circumstances. We had two centre halves go off in the first 15, 20 minutes, and looking at that I would have taken a point then. We didn't start very well, but it wasn't because of the personnel on the field. The injuries unsettled us a little bit, but once we adjusted, the lads who were put in different positions, coped fantastically well.'

Dougie was much more pleased with our second half performance in the game.

'We came out in the second half, had a right good go and I can't ask anything more of my players.'

As for the promotion push, he added when speaking to the Newsshopper.

'We are not strong enough, we've not got enough quality in depth. We are a growing club with growing young players that will be ready one day. I know it sounds like a get out saying we're not ready, but I said months ago we're not. We're a fantastic team with a good spirit and the young players will only get better next year.'
