Parsons Looking To Push On

Matt Parsons has said he thinks he'll benefit greatly from the first team experience he has gained this season, especially given the quality of the opponents he faced.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser the 20 year old said lining up against Southampton and Reading this season was a fantastic experience, and he's hoping that he can figure in the first team even more often next season.

'I wasn't expecting to play, so it was a bit of a surprise, but I think I did well in the games. It was good to get on the pitch and at the start of the season I said I wanted to play more as I got a taste last season. I set myself a target of 8 games and I have just fallen short of that. I definitely learnt something about being prepared after the Reading game.'

Next season Parsons will be in the final year of his contract, so he's obviously going to be looking to make a big impression on the gaffer.

'My goal for next season is to push on and challenge for the left back spot and earn myself a new contract. Dougie has been a big influence on my career and the club is a great place to be if you are a younger player.'
