Palace Confirm Joel Ward Signing

Crystal Palace are pleased to announce that Joel Ward has completed his transfer from Portsmouth for £400,000.

The 22 year old's fee could well prove to be a shrewd bit of business ultimately, and he's put pen to paper on a four year deal.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC assistant boss Lennie Lawrence said that Ward had been our top target for this window, and everybody was delighted to have the deal wrapped up.

'Joel has been a long term target for Dougie and this signing is a real coup for the club. We have had severe competition for his signature, we are absolutely delighted he has chosen us and we firmly believe that he will be a Premier League player one day.

Ward added for himself.

'I was blessed and lucky to have a number of clubs interested but I met Dougie Freedman and he's a very infectious person who knows what he wants. He knows the vision that he's trying to instill into the players and into the club and that's what I want to see in a manager.'

Welcome to the club Joel!
