Dougie Freedman has refused to excuse our loss today as we gifted Watford 3 points in the final 5 minutes.
Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following our capitulation of a 2-1 lead, the gaffer said.
'That last ten minutes was obviously disappointing but looking back at the performance I don't think we did enough to win the game. Of course it's disappointing to lose the match in the last five minutes but it was a great effort from the lads.'
Freedman adds on the question of the heat that yes it played it's part in today's game, but that was the same for both team's so it can hardly be used as an excuse. Overall we just didn't defend well enough and there's no hiding that.
Freedman also explained the absence of Paddy McCarthy and Jonathan Williams.
'Jonny has a calf strain, it's a result of his broken leg last year. We just need to be careful with him, maybe another week or so. Paddy's groin is playing up. When they come back they'll be stonger.'
Disappointing, but we pick ourselves up and go again, hopefully they'll be a few new additions come the next game that will give us that extra edge and help us bounce back.
