Freedman Glad To Get His Hands On Goodwillie

Dougie Freedman has revealed that he tried to sign David Goodwillie two years ago, but his price rocketed.

Speaking to the South London Press the boss said that two years ago he tried to buy the, now 23 year old striker, but his price had gone up by two million so he put the phone down and thought he'd bide his time, and he's more than pleased to finally get him down to Selhurst.

'I had in my thoughts if he didn't quite crack it at Blackburn I would sniff around and pick him up. It was literally at 8pm I got a phonecall, my contacts kicked in. The chairman's very supporting.'

Freedman thinks both Goodwillie and Damien Delaney just need a bit of tlc to pick themselves up.

'Over the next five weeks we do what we do best, we love people, get them fit, give them the jersey. I've been after Damien for the last two years but we've got to look at a short term deal to balance the books. With a bit of loving they could turn out to be good players for us.'
