Dougie Freedman was delighted with the attitude of the players against Charlton last night, especially as all the hard work before the game, paid off on the pitch.
Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the game, the gaffer said.
'I was delighted with how the lads approached the game, we knew what to expect and they took on board what the coaching staff had been telling them this week. The first half I thought we were excellent and pressured in the right areas and with purpose to create a number of opportunities and with a bit more confidence I am sure we would have put one or two of those away.'
As for KG's strike, he added.
'It was a fantastic goal, he was playing against Brazil at the weekend and he said he'd picked up a few tips, it was a great strike.'
more than anything it seems Dougie is pleased at how the team are now starting to gel after an unfortunate start to the campaign. He says whilst the defence is obviously missing Clyne, Gardner and Paddy through injury, he knew they would come good, it just needed a little bit of time.
'It takes time for them to work together as a unit but it was good to see it work so well tonight, and they are picking up confidence. The support tonight was excellent and the 3000 that were here for us helped make a great atmosphere. After the start to the season some clubs would have had their boo boys turn on them, but not ours, they know what I'm trying to do here and it's nice to win this one for them.'
