'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lawrence On Professional Display

Caretaker boss Lennie Lawrence praised the players professional attitude in last nights game following the departure of Dougie Freedman.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC after Barnsley's late equiliser last night, Lawrence said he couldn't have asked for any more from the team given recent events.

'We found ourselves in a situation where we were asked to take the team after Dougie's departure and we've been as professional as we can be in our preparation, and we certainly were as professional as we could be out on the pitch. The players are a fantastic group, they're very dedicated to the cause and you saw that out there. We're disappointed we didn't win, but we couldn't be more pleased with the effort.'

With Lawrence, along with Steve Coppell favourites to take the job fulltime, Lennie said.

'I don't know what happens now, we just take it day by day and pitch up tomorrow and see what transpires. I can't speculate on what might happen.'

Lennie also said Dougie phoned before the game to wish everybody the best of luck.
