'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Holloway's First After Match Verdict

Ian Holloway was positively beaming after taking charge of the side for the first time against Ipswich, and coming out 5-0 winners.

Speaking to Radio 5 Live after the thumping victory put us top of the table, Holloway backed this team to go all the way.

'I think they can go up. The players really want it and the set up is working towards it. What I want to try and do is get Palace back to where I believe they deserve to be. When I was growing up it was the old First Division. I want to give this club my energy and who knows what we can do? Everything is positive at the moment, but it's not about getting carried away.'

As for the game itself he says the performance surpassed the one we put in against Blackburn so the signs are good.

'I thought they played brilliantly on Saturday, and they probably surpassed that. Ipswich were as good as they have been all season and my lot just ground them down. In the meeting before the game their attention was spectacular, these boys have fantastic focus. I want to try and get the wide men on the ball a little more, but I don't need to do anything at the back. They are doing it better than any team of mine have ever done.'
