'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Speroni Knows The Fans Will Have Their Back

Julian Speroni has talked about the rivalry with Brighton and our unbeaten streak coming to an end.

Speaking to YourLocalGuardian our goalkeeper said.

'It doesn't matter what game it is, we will always prepare in the same way. We get to the ground, we pick up on the atmosphere and the fans' excitement, but we need to be professional. It's all about the fans, they are the ones talking about bragging rights and they can help us help them by creating a special atmosphere. That's what they have done recently, and it has made a huge difference to us. We know how important derbies are to the fans and we will be going all out to win it.'

After the disappointment against Leeds, Speroni added that everybody knew the unbeaten run would come to an end at some stage, but he's hopeful that the draw against Hull could be the start of another run for us.

'The unbeaten run had to end at some point, maybe the Leeds defeat takes a little pressure off us, but we would have preferred to keep the run going. I know we have the confidence to start it again.'

He's right in some ways, maybe the unbeaten tag was starting to loom heavy, but we responded well in a difficult match and picked up another valuable point, so if we can go on another run of 10 or so games, confidence should be phenomenal, and in ten games time that's really where the league will start to separate, so if we can be in the mix at that point, then everybody can really begin to dream.

I prefer the old cliche - 1 game at a time. Yes Hull was without doubt Palaces best point of the season so far - all things considered. Despite the 14 game run - note Bolton are only 4 wins away from Palace. Oh - back to that one game thing - Anyone know who we have next?

As for who we have next, nobody tells me nothing!

That said, nothing like a good cliche in football. Back to winning ways this weekend!
