Holloway - A Wasted 45 Minutes

Ian Holloway has admitted that we basically wasted the first 45 minutes today and gave Blackpool every chance to get on top, before finally finding ourselves in the second half.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC after the point was shared, Holloway admitted that in the first half Blackpool dominated us in reality, made most of the running and that we were a shadow of our usual-selves, but sensible words were had at half time and he believes we balanced the game by dominating the second half.

Obviously the match also had a special significance for the gaffer, and he admits he would've liked Palace to have hurt Blackpool a bit more, because he should've known how to deal them.

'It's not easy, it really isn't when you've been somewhere a long time and had some great times. I recognise a lot of the stuff they did and how they were doing it and I wanted my new team to hurt them a bit more. I had to wait until the second half until we managed to do that. We wasted the first 45, we didn't get at them so they deserved a point. The second half was much more like us. In the end it's taken a wonderful save from one of my favourite Blackpool players Matt Gilks.'

As the stats show, it was a fairly balanced game even if you rightly give them the first and us the second, chances overall we're similar so it's a fair point - especially as I thought given the occasion they'd nick it as the game drew to a close.

Still a rarity - 2 teams entertaining with skill, flair and graft.

Good advert for the quality of the league, more to it - especially us - than simply graft and battling away.
