'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Holloway Hails Options

Following our victory over Charlton today, Ian Holloway has hailed the options he now has amongst the squad.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC Holloway explained that with the losses of Mile Jedinak, KG, Owen Garvan and Andre Moritz he was pleased with their replacements, but he still needed to shake things up to give us a crack at winning the game.

'That team has never played together, we've lost Jedinak, who is a massive player for us, KG, Garvan, Moritz, the whole middle section was uncoordinated. I didn't think it caused us that many problems but they changed their shape and put a centre half where I was going to play Butterfield. Glenn Murray couldn't get a thing and we had to change it. That's what the transfer window is all about, and what I was trying to do.'

Holloway adds that having that strength and depth to change things on the bench is key because it can make all the difference in the world between a win and a loss.

'It feels great to get a win and it feels great to finish the game that way instead of letting a late goal in like we have done recently. That's a vital win for us, that puts us safe, now we can have a have a gallop and see how many points we can get by the end of the season.'

Kevin Phillips proved a vital change at halftime, and Holloway was full of praise for our loan signing.

'Phillips was just a masterclass. Look at how Murray played in the second half because Kevin knows what he's doing. It was brilliant to see Jonny and Dobbs come on. That's great for the lads, I feel we deserved that after the last few weeks.'

There is no doubt - we are still in a position to audition for a part on "Tales of the unexpected"!

Just need to get ourselves on another winning run, as we are more than in the mix.
