Another Youngster Looking To Impress

Another Youngster Looking To Impress

Reise Allassani is the next youngster to set himself the target of impressing Ian Holloway over the summer in the hope of pushing on into the first team next campaign.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser the 17 year old said that he knew now was the time to kick on and really impress Ian Holloway after working his way through our Academy over the past few years.

'Hopefully I'm going to get into the first team squad this summer. The U21s is good but I'd like to push on if I can. It depends on what the manager wants but my aim is to get into the first team and then if not, we'll have to see what happens.'

The end of that sentance seems a little ominous, but if Allassani impresses Holloway next season he can only expect a handful of appearances anyway, the next logical step is a loan spell or two out for competitive games in either case, and I'm assuming that's what he means.

It worked for Banton recently, and you'd expect Holloway to make more moves like that as there's no doubt a player will learn more from league games at any level than they will in the U21 set up, so it's aout finding the balance between the two for those who you really expect to kick on.

In the remainder of the interview Allassani talks about his U21 experience, especially when you play against the likes of Manchester City when they include names like Micah Richards and Maicon, and he also talks about the role that Jonny Williams has played for him in terms of advice, talking about how he found the step up from the U21 level to the first team and so on.
