£6m Fee Agreed For Dwight Gayle?

£6m Fee Agreed For Dwight Gayle?

It was revealed late last night that Peterborough have apparently accepted an offer of £6m from Palace for their starlet Dwight Gayle.

The 22 year old scored 13 times in 29 games last season and Barry Fry can't speak highly enough about him, saying that no Peterborough player in the past has attracted the interest that Gayle has this summer.

It will certainly be a coup for Palace if this deal comes off.

It's suggested he was in London today to undergo a medical and if all goes well he could be announced as early as next Monday.

The likelihood is there will be a flat fee of around £3m paid up front, and then if £6m is the final fee it would be no doubt based on Palace maintaining their Premiership status, his appearances and goal returns and maybe even a future international cap.

In other transfer news, it's also being suggested that Jerome Thomas' deal is nigh on completed and it's expected he will be announced soon and join us on a free.

The Croydon Advertiser also have an interview with Jason Banton where he says that although his aim is to break into the first team properly this season, he would be open to a return to Plymouth if Ian Holloway believed that it was best for his development.

'A loan move back to Plymouth is something I would consider and I wouldn't rule it out. But right now my focus is going back to training at Palace and to do the best I can to get involved with the first team. It would all come down to the manager.'

Outside of that the rumour mill is pretty quiet again today.
