'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pulis Delighted With First Three Points

New manager Tony Pulis was utterly delighted last night to see a Maroune Chamakh goal secure him his first three points on home soil.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC after the strikers goal just before the half time break, which was enough to grant us victory last night, Pulis hailed the attitude and commitment the team showed over the course of 90 minutes to get us our third win of the season.

We are now off the bottom of the table and are within touching distance of those immediately above us.

'It's a great result and what we have to do is win games and put points on the board to give everybody hope. The supporters were wonderful, but you have to win these games to give them the opportunity and the chance to do what I've come here to do, which is keep the club up. If you win games, give them hope, and the more hope you give them the more they'll back the team.'

Pulis goes on to say that one of the best ways of achieving our aim of survival this season is to turn Selhurst Park into a fortress and to do that he wants to give the supporters the belief and help them buy into what the players are, so everybody can be on the same page when it comes to giving us the best possible home form we can now have until the end of the season.

Again Pulis was also full of praise for the way the team have responded to him on and off the pitch since he came to the club.

'The players have been fantastic. The attitude and the commitment has been absolutely wonderful from the first minute I walked in. We will need to strengthen the side, bring a bit more quality into it and I think they will be absolutely delighted if we can do that.'

Pulis remains coy on what he will have to spend in the January window, caveating that comment by saying it will have to be within the clubs' means but he wants us to be in the race for survival come January first.

One concern that is circulating is the number of changes Pulis may make given what our summer dealings did for team spirit, but I really can't see him bringing in a host of players, it will be key additions, just maybe two or three to really improve the first team as any punts and risks can come next summer, for now we just need people to slot in and give us proven options.

Helping him achieve that obviously will be how the players are now fighting for him, and with the resilience and commitment being there, any new additions will have to fit into that quickly.
