'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clinical Edge Missing Again

Manager Tony Pulis has been left to reflect on the chances Palace wasted in today's loss with Tottenham Hotspur.

Palace lost the match two nil following two second half strikes from Eriksen and Defoe, but Palace whilst not having as much possession in the game, actually created greater opportunities than spurs did with the stats reading we had 14 attempts to their 10, but unfortunately they made theirs count.

Speaking to the press following the game, this was obviously a source of annoyance for our gaffer because he feels we maybe should've got something from the game, even if it was only a point.

'We played so well first half and really the game should've been over with the opportunities, chances and the way we played. Coming in at half time, you just don't know how you're not winning a game by a couple of goals.'

Pulis goes on to say that although he knew a side like Spurs would come back into it he was very disappointed with the manner of their two goals, as for the first it was a simple ball that he felt we should've most definitely dealt with better, and as for the second he feels that Defoe could've easily been called offside in the buildup.

But again, there are positives, obviously the way we performed in the first half especially, the number of chances we created, and he even feels we got more back into the game in the final 20 minutes pointing to the save by Lloris from Chanakh's effort that could've set up a more nervy end to the game for the opposition, but again it's about being clinical enough to take those opportunities when they come along and on the day we just weren't.

'The breaks are not going for us at the moment but what we've got to do is maintain the spirit, commitment and belief we showed today.'

Pointing out of course how our performances have improved in games like Chelsea and Man City, so we are clearly capable of hitting those levels, we just need to do it regularly and then we'll create our own luck on a more regular basis in games.

Unfortunately the result does drop us to the foot of the table below Sunderland on goal difference only, but Pulis says he's not overly concerned because the gap bottom place and tenth place points wise is only 6 points which is nothing with the number of games left, however the sooner we make those points up the better, but he remains confident we will do so.

However, we won't talk about the penalty.
