Puncheon's Permanent Deal Confirmed

Following the speculation yesterday, Crystal Palace have now confirmed that 27 year old Jason Puncheon has joined us on a permanent deal from Southampton.

Punch was on a season long loan with us, which began back in August, and in that time he has been impressive in his 20 appearances for us,and he has found the net three times.

Manager Tony Pulis had made noises about making the deal permanent a few weeks ago, but it all came to a head presumably in the potential deal for Tom Ince where one of Puncheon or Jerome's loan spells would have to be ended to allow that move to come off.

Punch was the more likely and that has now come to pass.

The club announce that he has joined us for an undisclosed fee, but it was widely speculated in the press yesterday that the fee would be in the region of 1.75million.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the deal, Puncheon said.

'It's great to sign a permanent deal, I'm pleased to get it done. I was here when I was eight when the likes of Dean Gordon and Chris Armstrong were here so that makes it special.'

Punch goes on to say that a massive factor in his decision was the chairman and the manager, both of whom have showed massive faith in him whilst he's been here and that has meant a lot. Although he does admit he wasn't expecting anything to happen this window, he thought a deal was more likely at the end of the campaign.

The player is now contracted with us until the summer of 2018 as he has penned a four and a half year contract with us.
