Murray Return Pleased Pulis

Manager Tony Pulis has said it was a delight to see Glenn Murray trot back onto the pitch today after the injury he suffered.

We all know the part that Murray played in promotion winning campaign and to suffer a cruciate ligament injury during the play off battles was a gutting blow to both the club and the player. Thankfully we pulled it off, and Murray has spent the months since the Brighton game waiting for his Premiership chance.

That came today, as he got a run out that lasted just under 20 minutes in today's game against West Bromwich Albion, and he'll no doubt get chance to build on that as he heads towards a full 90 minute return over the coming months.

Slowly and carefully is definitely the way to go as he recovers back to match sharpness and fitness following such an awful injury and lengthy lay off, but who wouldn't put money on him finding the net before 2013-14 ends?

That's what Pulis is hoping for having previously talked about Murray's goal scoring exploits being there for all to see, and also that we have built a squad capable of creating chances, and an on song Glenn to finish them off would be a huge boost.

Speaking to the press following the game, Pulis said of our returning striker.

'Murray's a goalscorer and we need him in the team doing what he does best and that's putting the ball into the back of the net. He only had 20 minutes but he really enjoyed it. He's like a kid in a sweet shop at the moment in the changing room.'

The run out would've done him the world of good, and whilst you don't expect him to start for a while, I imagine as the games tick by, he'll steadily get more run outs, and a few U21 matches to help bring him on further.

Fantastic reception for his return as well, and in one post match TV interview I saw with the gaffer, he joked that he was getting Murray to warm up every 15-20 minutes just to keep the crowd going because of how they were reacting to him!
