Speroni Would 'Love' Palace Stay

Julian Speroni had already made it clear that he was prepared to battle with Wayne Hennessey to be the no.1 at Crystal Palace this season and now he's made it clear he wants to extend his stay.

A testimonial is something that Speroni is fast approaching, not that he's thinking too much about that, what he is thinking about is staying at Selhurst Park.

He told the Daily Mirror: 'I would love to stay on, because I have been here ten years and I love this club.

'My priority will be to stay here but obviously I need to talk to the chairman and manager and see what they do. This is my tenth season and I am not sure how the testimonials work.'

Since his arrival from Dundee in 2004 the 'keeper has played over 300 games for Palace, which includes being a virtual ever present since 2007.

The 34-year-old believes that he's been playing well enough to earn that new contract and hopes that Tony Pulis offers him that chance and the suggestion from the boss is that he'll be doing this.

Some reports have said that Speroni's signing of a new contract though could be depend on some 'assurances' as to what his future will be as Hennessey wouldn't have been signed in a deal that could be worth up to 4m to sit on the bench.

Some I've read today are saying negotiations have already opened. For most keepers he's hitting his peak now it seems.
