Pulis - Work Continues On Targets

Pulis - Work Continues On Targets

Manager Tony Pulis has said that lots of hard work is going on behind the scenes to secure targets for the coming campaign, and he's also challenge Jonny Williams to show this season that he's strongly developing into a first team player.

In quotes carried by the South London Press Pulis confirmed that the club were making plans and trying to get deals lined up, but that it's still early in the summer and sometimes these things take time to fall into place.

'There is lots of stuff going on behind the scenes. I've always tried to get things lined up and then you hope that things drop into place for you. There is work going on that people never see - it's busy.'

With Palace yet to make their first move of the summer, many fans will be looking back to the calibre of player that Pulis identified back in January, and hoping to see that continue and maybe go up a level having secured safety last campaign in such style.

As for youngster Williams, given all the speculation surrounding his potential move away to the club to a place like Swansea following Wales manager Chris Coleman's words, Pulis explained that Jonny remained our player, and under contract, until the club decided otherwise, but ultimately he can do nothing about others or the press speculating and given the potential that Williams does have, obviously he's always going to be surrounded by that.

'Jonny comes back at the same time as the rest of the players. It's his responsibility to come back and do as well as he possibly can to get back in the team. He's a great lad and has got the potential. He has got to fulfil that potential.'

I could see all the sense in the world of maybe loaning him out for a long spell again to a Championship club who would use him right, to help get those additional games and that experience under his belt, but I can't see any kind of permanent deal being done - just wouldn't make any sense.
