Warnock - The Lads Showed Great Attitude

New manager Neil Warnock has praised the attitude of the players following the three all draw with Newcastle in his first game back in charge.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the game, Warnock says he couldn't have asked for anything more from the players over 90 minutes because he knows they gave all they had to try and win the game.

'I couldn't ask much more than what the players gave me, I've only had two days with them but I must say I'm delighted with their attitude. They played like I thought they could play, we attacked well but at half time I was disappointed because in that first 45 minutes Newcastle's best chances came from our mistakes.'

Warnock goes on to say that we created some great chances ourselves though and he doesn't believe that Wilfried Zaha's first effort should've been ruled out for offside and of course had that been allowed to stand we would've got the advantage in the game again and the match takes on a different complexion then.

So he feels it was desperately unlucky for us to go three two down, but the response of the players to come back from that disappointment at that late stage was huge for him.

Warnock even jokes he was told this week that Palace don't come back from a goal behind, so to have done that to get a point in his first game back with us, couldn't have left him happier.

Warnock goes on to say that Tony Pulis has assembled a really good bunch of lads, and they have a great spirit and from day oen back in the job he says it's been a joy to come in and work with players who want to learn, want to train and want to do well for each other.

Hopefully now, after a difficult and disrupted summer, we can now kick on, settle down, and start picking up points regularly.

With the transfer window closing tomorrow, Warnock also repeated after the game that he was hoping to do deals for three or four players, and that some targets are already quite a way down the line, so he remains hopeful that we can finalise them.
