Murray On Massive Stoke Win

Murray On Massive Stoke Win

Goalscorer and somewhat recently rejuvenated striker Glenn Murray has described yesterday's victory over Stoke City as massive for Crystal Palace this season.

Goals from Murray and Wilfried Zaha gave us the three points and whisper it quietly, but all secured Premier League football for next season and speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the game, Murray also admitted it was key to go into the international break on the back of a win.

Having scored his fourth goal in five games and now having a ten break to savour it, Murray explained.

'It's massive for us, especially getting six points before the start of the international break, it's a real boost for us. It was nice to get on the scoresheet today; from my angle it looked like it was a penalty, I appealed for it and I was right next to the referee and from what I could see it looked like the keeper missed the ball.'

Murray went on to say that the way Alan Pardew has us set up to play is certainly a strength when we are on our travels away from Selhurst Park and we are certainly confident in away games of late.

'Time will tell if 36 points is enough for safety but we'll keep fighting for every point.'

Defender Scott Dann was also interviewed following the game by Sky Sport, and he was full of praise for Murray given his performances of late.

'When I first came to the club he was obviously on the back of a really bad injury and I think it done him a world of good going out and playing some games at Reading. He`s come back hungrier, a lot fitter and since he`s come back, he`s been great for us. He gives us that point of reference up front that people can gamble off and we`ve got two wide men with pace and power. If he`s flicking stuff on, in behind, we`re going to get in and we`re going to score goals.'

As for the game and our finish to the season, Dann also said that whilst it was still possible and top half finish is what we will be aiming for.

'If we keep getting wins like that then there is no reason why not. Stoke are still a fair way off us. It`s five or six points. We`ve just gone above Newcastle into 11th and we`ve still got West Ham above us. There is no reason why not but we need to keep putting on battling performances like that; add a little bit of quality to it but I don`t see any reason why not.'
