Pardew On Best Game Yet

Pardew On Best Game Yet

Manager Alan Pardew has said the two one win over Chelsea today was his best game so far as gaffer of Crystal Palace.

Speaking to Sky Sport in his post game press conference, Pardew explained that he felt our game plan was spot on today when it came to countering effectively and using our pace to really cause their backline problems, so taking all three points from the match did mean it had been his best game so far as gaffer with us.

'We had a good meeting this week about what it takes to win here. It`s difficult to try and overcome of the quality of not just the team here but the manager. But we did it. We did it with an assured performance because you can nick a win here by parking the bus. I didn`t think we did that. We were on the front foot. We tried to hurt Chelsea as often as we could.'

Obviously being in a good mood, he went on to credit the players for putting in what he felt was the best performance they have managed so far since he returned to Selhurst.

'As Crystal Palace manager, this was my best performance of the team that I`ve seen. Not because of the victory here, but because of the manner of how we played. We looked a good team today and, if we can keep the team fit, keep the spirit that we have with people like Damo and Scotty Dann, we can have a good season. It`s always great to come here and managing here. It`s a great place.'

With Jose Mourinho making a big play of a spot kick in the first half for them for a foul on their player Zouma, Pardew wasn't going to be drawn on whether he felt it was a caste iron penalty and we got lucky, he instead twisted the conversation to the clash between Diego Costa and Damien Delaney that the referee also missed.

'I`ve seen the pull on Zouma, it was Connor, who I thought had a good game. There was a clash with Costa on Damo, that the referee missed. This happens in football.'

In wider press coverage of his comments, he's also quoted as saying.

'It was a really good performance today - one of the best performances I've seen from one of my teams in terms of composure. We can frighten teams with our pace and we did that from start to finish. Our defenders had to defend really well and they did. We've added new players but haven't lost our spirit. We have got technically better players than last season. I'm not saying we're contenders for Europe but we're a good side.'

'Two goals didn't flatter us at all. It was a great game. You have to pay great credit to Chelsea because they pushed and pushed.'
