Instant Reactions - West Ham v Crystal Palace (30/1/18)

Following yesterday's clash between West Ham United and Crystal Palace, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

West Ham United hosted Crystal Palace at the London Stadium for a 7.45pm kick off on Tuesday January 30, with both sides playing out a one all draw.

The visitors took a one nil advantage with Christian Benteke finding the net in the 24th minute but a Mark Noble penalty minutes before half time tied the scores up.

That was where the scoring ended on the evening and the result leaves West Ham unbeaten in six as they move into 10th place and Palace sit in 12th three points above 18th placed Stoke City.

Teams:

West Ham:

Adrian, Collins, Ogbonna, Rice, Byram, Zabaleta, Noble, Cresswell, Kouyate (Oxford 86), Joao Mario, Hernandez.

Substitutes:

Fonte, Haksabanovic, Hart, Martinez, Cullen, Quina.

Crystal Palace:

Hennessey, Fosu-Mensah, Kelly, Tomkins, van Aanholt, Zaha, McArthur, Milivojevic, Townsend, Benteke, Sako (Cabaye 41).

Substitutes:

Speroni, Ward, Sakho, Lee Chung-yong, Souare, Riedewald.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Neil Swarbrick blew the final whistle, West Ham manager David Moyes explained about the dropping of Michail Antonio.

'He turned up late this morning for a meeting and it wasn't the first time. I'm not having it at the club. I've said right from the start what it's going to be like. It's too often so I didn't involve him tonight, otherwise I would have probably tried to get him on the bench. He's apologised for it and because of that we move on. He'll be back training tomorrow morning. On time! He's got a chance of being in the squad (Brighton), but he would have been a big help for us tonight.'

About the game he added.

'I was pleased with a point because of the amount of key players we had. Crystal Palace have probably been the form team outside the top six. Every club has injuries, it's a chance for other players to show what they can do. Joao Mario settled in really quickly, which is always a worry when you bring a player in from abroad. He looks as if he is quite good at all the things. He handled the ball well and we needed him, he was important to us.'

Crystal Palace gaffer Roy Hodgson in his comparative interview spoke about transfers.

'The chairman and sporting director Dougie Freedman are working - they certainly haven't left the phone and haven't stopped trying to improve our squad as they realise it's something we have to do. There are always players out there - but are they players who are going to improve you and help you win games? Those players are much harder to find.'
