Zaha Is Not Out For The Season - Updated

Zaha Is Not Out For The Season - Updated

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has been holding his pre Everton press conference today and the first piece of news to sneak through is confirmation that Wilfried Zaha is, as speculated, set for a spell on the sidelines.

However Hodgson stated that contrary to rumours, he would not be out for the season.

The player picked up a knee injury during the draw with Newcastle United and he is now set to miss Everton.

Palace haven't yet given an expected time frame but Everton's unlikely to be the only match he misses, given it's a similar injury to the first spell he spent on the sidelines this campaign where he missed eight games.

But the good news is it's not season over for him.

More to follow, and we'll have Hodgson's exact quotes soon enough.

Update:

Sky Sports quote Hodgson saying he's likely to be sidelined for only a month this time around which means missing out matches against Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United.

"It's amazing Wilf was able to play so much of the game with the injury. He's a very quick healer and we'll be working to get him back as soon as possible. He won't play versus Everton though. If he recovered in a week or two it would be a fantastic effort, but it's more realistic we'd have to wait a month for him. It's not certain. He'll be pushing the medical staff to come back as soon as possible."

Reflecting on our overall injury situation all season long, Hodgson added.

"Quite frankly I can't remember a time when I've had this many players injured at a club. These things happen. We certainly haven't been too lucky of late with injury, but the players have kept battling on and will try to get results. We won't feel sorry for ourselves or make excuses. I believe in the 11 I put on to the field."
