Crystal Palace 2 - Barnsley 0

Selhurst Park

15/3/08

Attendance: 17,459

Palace too much for Tykes

Goals from Tom Soares and James Scowcroft were enough to see off cup Semi-Finalists, conquerors of Premiership top boys Liverpool and Chelsea, Barnsley.

After a dyer first half, with goalkeeper Luke Steele, pulled off a couple of superb saves but could not prevent Soares finding the target a minute into the second half.

Any hopes of a Barnsley fight back looked over when James Scowcroft netted the Eagle's second, the win puts Palace in 7th place and stands them in good shout of the play offs.

Don't get me wrong Barnsley did play well, and had several corners throughout the game, but they just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net, even from close range, Lady luck must be saving their's for their Cup Semi-Final.
